Megan Thayer, MSW, LSW

IOP Therapist

Megan comes to Hickory House Recovery with more than 15 year’s experience working with individuals facing co-occurring disorders. As the IOP Therapist, she provides direct clinical care for outpatient services, creating and developing the intensive outpatient program.

Growing up around nurses, Megan aspired to be one as well. Her time as a Medical Assistant working with individuals struggling with mental health, coupled with a history of substance use, fueled her passion for learning more about the brain and the neurobiology of substance use, misuse, and addiction.

A true professional, Megan treats everyone with respect, maintains cultural competence, and values the dignity and worth of each client that walks through the door. She finds the most rewarding part of her work at Hickory House is providing clients with the tools needed to become the best version of themselves, seeing them accomplish their personal goals on their recovery journey and helping clients realize that happiness can be achieved without substance use or dependance.

Megan loves spending time with her family, reading, journaling, guided meditation, coloring, working with her service dogs, and listening to a menagerie of music
